Dual Credit Program

The dual credit program is a flexible program designed for high school juniors and seniors that allows them to prepare for entry into either a wind degree program or a wind job.
The courses for this program cover sufficient objectives to ground the student in the principles, concepts, and terminology that are used daily throughout the wind industry. Credit transfer is simple as these courses comprise the first semester of a wind certificate or degree.

Computer Applications I

Length: 16 wks
Hours: 96
Credit: 3

An introduction to basic computer hardware, software, and operating systems. Students will not only cover computers as individual processors, but will explore computer communities called networks and how they are structured to facilitate the sharing of information and resources.

Principles of Wind Energy

Length: 16 wks
Hours: 48
Credit: 3

Introduction to the principles and terminology of the wind industry. The student will also be familiarized with the components and structure of both wind turbines and wind parks.

Electricity Principles

Length: 16 wks
Hours: 96
Credit: 4

A detailed look at electricity and how it is used. Principles such as Ohm's Law and Power theory will also be covered so that the student will not only be capable of working with electrical power systems, but will also understand the underlying mechanisms and their applications.

Basic Fluid Power

Length: 16 wks
Hours: 96
Credit: 3

An overview of using fluid based systems, also known as hydraulics, to produce kinetic force in mechanical systems. The student will be fully grounded in the devices and terminology utilized in fluid power and its underlying principles such as Pascal's and Boyle's law.

AC/DC Circuits

Length: 16 wks
Hours: 96
Credit: 4

An in-depth study of the two basic types of electricity and their specific usage and applications. This course is an extension of Principles of Electricity in that it guides the student to an understanding of the practical applications of the principles they have already learned.
